Mini-14 Factory Folding Stock
During the 1970's and 1980's, Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. sold their Mini-14 rifles from the factory with side-folding steel and wood stocks with polymer grips. These stocks were originally marketed towards law-enforcement personnel, but were available for sale to the public as well, both already supplied with a new gun and separately available for purchase from Ruger. Specifically, Ruger's select-fire Mini-14 variant, the AC-556, was typically sold with the factory folding stock equipped.
The factory folding stock's popularity rose with their use in the TV series, "The A-Team", the entire protagonist ensemble of whom's signature rifles were stainless Mini-14's with factory folding stocks and stainless aftermarket upper handguards.
When Ruger discontinued the Mini-14 factory folding stock in 19XX, they became collector's items. Recent years have seen individual stocks sell for $300 to $750 and up to and beyond $1,000, in rare cases.
